Thales Gemalto KR9000 OEM Passport and ID Document Reader, 400 DPI, USB 2.0 - KR9000

The Thales Gemalto OEM Document Reader KR9000 is a versatile document scanning and verification solution designed for identity processing applications in Bahrain. Its flat, hoodless design simplifies document placement for occasional users and makes it suitable for airport counters, self-service kiosks, border control systems, and eGates. It reads passports, electronic travel documents, identity cards, and paper or mobile boarding passes containing supported barcodes.

The KR9000 automatically detects when a document is placed and initiates optical capture, machine-readable zone (MRZ) decoding, and barcode reading. Its standard 3.1-megapixel camera delivers images at 400 dpi, while an optional 10-megapixel high-resolution camera supports imaging up to 720 dpi. Anti-glare technology and visible, infrared, and ultraviolet illumination help capture document details and security features while reducing reflections from laminates and optically variable devices.

The reader supports one-dimensional barcodes, including Code 128 and Code 39, and two-dimensional formats such as PDF417, QR Code, Data Matrix, and Aztec. Optional software extends functionality to optical character recognition, visible-zone data capture, document authentication, and quality assurance. These capabilities can help automate data entry and check document security features against trusted references.

An optional RFID configuration reads and writes compatible contactless chips in ePassports and electronic driving licences. It supports ISO 14443 Type A and Type B at 13.56 MHz, with supported security protocols and data groups depending on the document and SDK configuration.

The KR9000 connects through USB 2.0 High-Speed and includes a two-port USB hub for compatible peripherals. Its SDK provides APIs, utilities, and code examples for integrating document capture into applications. The device measures 190 × 162 × 123 mm, weighs approximately 1.1 kg, and features an internally sealed optical chamber with IP50 dust protection.

The Thales Gemalto OEM Document Reader KR9000 supports identity verification, passenger processing, document registration, and secure self-service workflows. Buy now with Fast Delivery in Manama, Riffa, Muharraq.
